A proposal to overhaul internet privacy rules, including how often a website needs to ask permission to store cookies, will be presented by the UK Internet Commissioner to other members of the G7 at a virtual meeting this week. 
Elizabeth Denham will suggest an idea that would allow people to set lasting privacy preferences within web browsers, software applications and device settings.
This would end the need to agree to pop-ups every time you visit a website, and focus on 'common sense, not box-ticking' practices that still protect users.
